Kyle Mayor
I was born in Torrington Wyoming on Memorial Day May 25 1992. My parents divorced when I was two and I moved with my mom and two older sisters to central Nebraska. In high school I got involved in sports as well as the speech team, band, and Y.O.A.D.A which stands for youth offering alternatives to drugs and alcohol. I was a leader of Y.O.A.D.A for four years and the president my senior year. My sophomore year was a very important year for me. I experienced something that changed my outlook on life and how I would live out the following years of high school and college. I caught a virus and was bed ridden for three and a half months. I went from being able to run a mile in under seven minutes and benching well over two hundred pounds to not being able to walk more than five feet at a time in the course of two days. For months the doctors were unable to determine what was wrong with me. When I finally recovered I made a decision to make the most out of everything I do and to be more involved in school, sports, and every aspect of my life. The following year I joined the speech team and became more active in my church youth group and started earning better grades. When I graduated in 2011 I came to Fort Hays State University. When I first came to FHSU in 2011 I planned to major in math but during my enrollment I decided to change to computer science. Since that time I have enjoyed attending computer science classes under the instruction of Dr. Zeng. Late my freshman year I joined SigEp in an effort to become more involved on campus. I joined after attending one of the Sunday chapter meetings. I was impressed by not only the members but also because of the motto sound mind sound body. I felt that I found the ideal brotherhood. This year I have had the opportunity to head the newsletter as part of the communication department. I also joined the cheer squad as a yell leader. I am still a computer science major but am thinking of changing my emphasis from technology studies to cyber security next fall.
